Book Review: Friends Forever by Danielle Steel

Caution: You may need a box of Kleenex while reading this.

I finished reading this book a few weeks ago and it was so heart-wrenching, but also so good.
It's the story of five friends: Izzie, Gabby, Billy, Andy, and Sean, who meet in kindergarten and grow up together in an exclusive K-12 school. Throughout the years their friendship strengthens, as does the bond between all the families. They experience tragedy, triumph, and love as they move through their elementary and high school years.
When the five of them graduate, they each take very different paths, unsure of their future and what tolls their friendship will take. And there are a lot of tolls. There isn't much I can say without spoiling it for you guys but what I will say is that the plot twists and things happen so suddenly that you'll probably need to reread some parts to process the events.
Towards the end of the story, the perspective changes. Until then it has jumped around between all five of the friends, but it switches to Izzie's perspective. She struggles with what her friends have faced and are facing, and wishes they would return home and be safe. I found that I related to this character a lot because I have five close friends and I want us all to stay friends and never grow apart no matter what. If anything happened to them, I would be devastated, like Izzie was when tragedy struck.
What I liked about this book was how each friend had different interests and life paths. I also enjoyed learning about the friendships between the families as time passed- their friendship grew simultaneously with that of their children.
All in all this book made me realize how lucky I am to have such amazing friends, and how the bonds between friends can always grow, no matter what age or where life takes them.

Did you read this book? What did you think?

Spring Daisies

Intro to my Reviews Page

I want to branch out a bit on this blog and start doing reviews- they will mainly be fashion and beauty related, like clothing stores / brands, maybe YouTube gurus, and other major fashion websites. However, I would also like to do book reviews, because I love to read, and sometimes (a lot of the time) the books that I read are just so amazing that they deserve to be shared (don't worry, I'll try my best not to spoil the plot too much).
Any suggestions are welcome!

Spring Outfits, Modcloth, and More

I've noticed that the outfits that I've created recently on Polyvore have all featured the basic plain white tee. I didn't realize this until I looked through them the other day. It just goes to show that it is a staple that can be dressed up or down in very simple ways, such as with a skirt and cardigan, a statement necklace, or a leather jacket. You can never go wrong with a plain white tee! :)
A few weeks ago I finally decided to order a dress off of Modcloth, an online store with the cutest vintage-inspired clothes. It took me a long time to choose, since everything on there is absolutely gorgeous, but I finally decided on this blue knee-length dress with tiny polka dots, and I absolutely love it! It fits perfectly and I cannot wait to wear it! (Side note: I apologize for the awful picture quality; even with editing, the background is still weirdly yellow.)

It has finally started warming up, so the other day I sported this preppy spring outfit. I got the blouse as a birthday present and I love the little dot pattern on it!

Blouse: Tommy Hilfiger (at Hudson's Bay)
Pants: Smart Set

Last piece of news: I went shopping last week at Winners of all places and I actually found something! Usually Winners is just a mess of different styles, brands, and sizes, but once in a while I do find the hidden gems, such as this crazy t-shirt.

It's so bright and fun for the summer that I thought, well, why not? Tropical print on one side and tie-dye on the other- it's pretty out of my comfort zone but this year I've been wanting to branch out from my standard uniform of floral, pink, and lace. Also, it fits right in with one of the biggest trends of the season that I described in one of my last posts: art prints.
Until my next post, stay stylish! :)
